What I’ve been up to

I finished two socks for Project Spectrum.

Socks (16/365)

Too bad they don’t actually match. The second Sweetheart sock is already on the needles though, and the second Monkey will follow as soon as that’s done. I’m looking forward to finishing these because I have so much gorgeous sock yarn that’s waiting for me.

It's growing

The shawl is growing, slowly but steadily. I had a bit of a crisis when I realized my gauge had changed from when I began the project in December. After some sound advice, I put part of it on scrap yarn and blocked it and decided that although there’s a small difference, it’s subtle enough that nobody will be able to tell unless it’s all stretched out and I point it out to them. Blocking it out made me even more excited about getting this done because I realized just how gorgeous the fabric is. It’s going to be a stunning shawl.

Sundays are for baking

And today I made “Chocodoodles” because sunday is the perfect day for baking. The recipe is from Nigella Lawson’s How to be a Domestic Goddess and is a variation on her Snickerdoodles, replacing some of the flour with cocoa. I should say, however, that I’ve never made Snickerdoodles before or even seen one so I have no idea what they’re supposed to look like and mine might be all wrong. I did follow the recipe though and they’re pretty delicious, so I don’t really care.

Those chocodoodles look great! As do the socks. I love the color on the dark socks!

Looks like you are on the right track. And those look way better than any snickerdoodles I ever made.

Wow, I love your color choices. It all looks delish–especially the cookies. The shawl and socks are great!

Wow, that shawl looks gorgeous!

So how are you liking The Knittery slim sock? I think I need some size 00 DPN’s to knit it with…

I haven’t finished anything for Project Spectrum yet. I just can’t get into the red/orange/yellow colour scheme! :( Maybe I can start socks when we go to Paris… *sigh* Or maybe not. Probably not, is my guess.

Those Chocodoodles look lovely. Is the book good?? I’d like to be a domestic goddess. Or maybe I’d just settle for being domestic. At all.

The Sweetheart sock is beautiful. I have that Domestic Goddess book, and now I want to go and make some Snickerdoodles after I’ve seen yours. Isn’t it a wonderfully silly name!

I literally just finished a Snickerdoodle before reading your post. The chocolate version looks much yummier…although it was a pretty tasty Sdoodle. It came from the Domestic Goddess, Nigella? Say no more! She’s my hero. Must dig out my book and bake something.
