I’ve sort of abandonned the blog recently. I can’t even blame being busy, because really, I’ve just been feeling a bit out of sorts generally and haven’t had the energy to do anything. But I’m back, hopefully to stay, and I’ve got a little backlog of FOs to show off. Let’s start with the simplest one.
Garter Stitch Mitts by Ysolda knit from Dream in Color Classy in Strange Harvest {More}
I’ve made two pairs of these before as gifts and I always knew I wanted a pair for myself. A couple of weeks ago, when my knitting seemed to be struggling with me every step of the way, I cast on for these and finished the first in about an hour. I love this pattern, it’s so quick and simple and the result is so wearable. The last time I made them, they turned out a bit long for my liking, so I just shortened the pattern by casting on 32 stitches. I made this pair for the leftovers from the last lot and I still have a sizeable ball of Classy left. I think if you knit this shorter version, you could probably get three pairs out of a single skein!
I also picked up my spindle last week and finished spinning and plying this yarn.
It’s a two-ply, roughly sportweight, and spun from some BFL from Spunky Eclectic. The colourway is Diet Coke, which seems very appropirate considering the amount of that stuff that I drink. It’s definately my most successful skein so far, and my first time spinning hand-dyed roving, but it’s still very amateurish. I shudder to think what the yarn will look like knit up since I didn’t really have a plan to handle the colour changes. It’s also got me dreaming of (and saving for!) a spinning wheel.
And here’s a peak at my current socks-in-progress. I’m loving simple stockinette at the moment.

Beautiful garter stitch mitts! I love the stripes in that sock.
The yarn in your sock is fantastic, those colours are bloody beautiful.
I love the mitts!
Your mitts look great … I love the shortened length!
I must know what sock yarn that is!!! Love it!
Your handspun is beautiful
I’m about to layby a spinning wheel, suffering a yarn diet to do it so bring on tax refunds I say!
I know how you feel. It seems like I’ve lost interest in my blog too (or lost my voice somehow). Perhaps it’s the fact that, between flickr and Ravelry, the blog seems a littel redundant.
The knitting all looks lovely, of course! I’m loving the stripey sock you’ve got going right now.
The colors of the sock in progress are FANtastic. And the handspun? Oh my, it’s beautiful!!
Those are super cute. Ysolda is in Montreal. I’m hoping to meet up with her on Monday!
