So, I’m attempting to turn over a new leaf, blog-wise. Actually posting! Replying to comments! What a novelty. Anyway, it’s time to post about one of my favourite pairs of socks ever: my Twisted Flowers.
Twisted Flower by Cookie A knit with Colinette Jitterbug in Vincent’s Apron {More}
This is another of those patterns that I really didn’t like when I first saw it. It was too busy for me, and just looked way too time-consuming for a pair of socks. Then Claire knit them in a gorgeous daffodil-yellow, and I knew I needed a pair for myself.
I went with a very different yellow, a colour I’ve heard referred to as the perfect yellow. I love the combination of colour, yarn and pattern. This is without a doubt the most visually stunning pair of socks I’ve ever knit. And they weren’t nearly as time-consuming as I thought they’d be.
I really love the way the tightly-twisted Jitterbug looks in the twisted stitches and cabled sections. Of course, with such an intensive pattern and Jitterbug’s short yardage, I had to break into a second skein of yarn. There’s a definite shift in colour, but I’ve decided not to care. They’re socks: who’s going to be looking that closely at my feet? (But I’m sure you can spot the place where I changed skeins in the picture above.)
The sock-knitting is continuing around these parts. I’ve got one more pair of leftover socks to share before blogging my numerous Socktoberfest pairs. I won’t even try to get pictures of all of them before the end of the month though since I have eight pairs in various states of completion and I’m still rushing to meet my ridiculous goal. Instead, I’ll space them out during November. I’ll just have to hope everybody doesn’t get sick of reading about socks!

Holy gorgeous socks, Batman! That has got to be the perfect kind of yarn for that pattern. Anything more solid and it would not be as stunning, anything less solid and they would be a mess. Lovely!
Gorgeous gorgeous socks. I’ve always loved this pattern and it looks fantastic in this yarn. And I will never tire of posts about socks, particularly if they are as gorgeous as these!
Those socks are gorgeous and I love the color too.
Oh they’re beautiful! It’s a very pretty pattern, and I have to agree, the yellow is just perfect. Stunning!
Who could get sick of socks? These are fab. I keep meaning to buy some Vincent’s Apron and keep forgetting, but it really is a stunning colour. Love how they turned out!
Those socks are beautiful, so intricate!
Lovely socks. I have them in my Rav queue. And a great colour. I seriously need some yellow socks now.
I love twisted stitches too. They are so neat and tidy.
Wow, those are *beautiful*. I’ve been on a golden theme myself lately – I got a skein of sock yarn (merino/tencel) from KraftyKoala in this gorgeous toffee yellow, but I can’t bring myself to make socks out of it.
Perhaps a shoulder shawl/scarf thing…
Looking forward to seeing you post more!
As always, beautiful photography.
Truly lovely! Nice work!
VA is the best yellow ever. I knit my Childs First Sock out of them & LOVE them so much. Makes me want shoes in the color to match too
These socks are so lovely. Great yarn & color choice to show off the pattern. One day I will get around ot knitting these. One day…
The socks are gorgeous! Great color too.
In a word – stunning
The most beautiful socks I’ve seen – both pattern and colour is gorgeous.
I’ve been wanting to purchase this exact color (and a few others) of Jitterbug…now you’ve convinced me!
NIce socks! I keep wishing Cookie A. would put out toe-up patterns.
