Tea Cardigan

It’s the final official day of semester today and I spent it finishing of an essay. Even after three years here, I still find it utterly bizarre to have the semester finish in late October. Of course, there’s still Swot Vac and the exam period, but growing up in the Northern Hemisphere, school would always end a week or so before Christmas.

My knitting has been a bit slow this week, but I whipped this up yesterday while watching TV. Complete credit to Cirilia for the idea. When I first saw the “coffee cardigan” on her blog I knew I wanted one. The problem was that I don’t drink coffee and I rarely buy hot drinks out. Then I realized that I had these mugs that I love but never use because they don’t have handles and hence get really hot.

Coffee/Tea Cardigan

Lots of garter stitch and a couple of buttons later (the only reasonably cute buttons I had lying around, I need to buy more buttons), I had this and I absolutely love it. I have this thing for garter stitch lately, and I’m going to blame it on the fact that I’ve never really done any garter stitch before. I learnt to purl at the same time as I learnt to knit and I’ve never knit any kind of scarf. Seeing Pam’s fabulous fingerless mitts and starting Juliet had me craving more garter stitch. It’s so wonderfully squishy and I think it works great for little accessories like this.

Congratulations on your internship! How exciting!
Yes, I think the just the knit stitch is quite comforting sometimes, it’s so easy.
